あらすじ（日本語）
１９９７年、人類は星々に対する情熱を失い、宇宙開発計画は長い中断の時期に入っていた。星にとり憑かれた５７歳のもと宇宙飛行士マックス・アンドルーズは、そんな世界で無為の日々を過ごしていた。しかし、木星探査計画を公約に立候補した女性上院議員候補の存在を知ったとき、彼の人生の歯車は再び動き始める。もう一度、宇宙へー老境に差しかかりつつも夢のために奮闘する男を、奇才ブラウンが情感豊かに描く古典的名作。
